LMC Leadership is Shaping the Future of Mental Health in Florida
Dr. Jay Reeve recently concluded three years of service as Chair of the Florida Commission on Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder, a role to which he was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis. During his tenure, he brought together behavioral health leaders, policymakers, and subject matter experts to develop recommendations aimed at improving mental health and substance use services and expanding access to care statewide. Under his leadership, 16 Commission recommendations were ultimately codified into Florida law, helping strengthen Florida's behavioral health system and improve outcomes for individuals and families across the state.
In recognition of these achievements, the Florida Center for Behavioral Health Workforce honored Dr. Reeve and fellow Commission members at its Workforce Summit at the University of South Florida. The award acknowledged the Commission's lasting impact on Florida's behavioral health landscape, including advancing policies that improve access to care, strengthen the workforce, and create a more coordinated and effective system of services statewide.
As Life Management Center and Apalachee Center move forward with their integration, Dr. Reeve's experience and vision continue to guide efforts to strengthen behavioral health services across the region. Together, the organizations remain committed to expanding access to high-quality, person-centered care and building healthier communities throughout Northwest Florida.
